This is dh_icontest an icon contest and LIMS for the fandom that is David Hewlett. ALL SKILL LEVELS ARE WELCOME!
To make it a bit different from the other Icon contest out there I have chosen to do two things.
1. Make the focus on David Hewlett. This means that the challenges could include everything from Rodney Mckay to Con Photograhy to quotes to Nothing. Anything that is David Hewlett related will be fair game here.
2. There will be both a regular weekly challenge AND a LIMS (Last Icon Maker Standing) contest.
For these challenges, members are given a "theme" or a set of pictures, or both with which to make an icon(s) that fit the regular rules and any special rules for the challenge. To participate, please JOIN the community. New members are always welcome!
R U L E S Be respectful. Post only the set number of icons for each challenge. Follow all rules given in each challenge. Submit your icons by commenting to the original challenge post providing both the icon and URL and letting me know if you want a banner.
All icon entries must meet the LJ standards for uploading (40kb, 100x100). Entries and voting are anonymous. DO NOT post or use your icon(s) anywhere else until the challenge is complete and winners have been announced! You must make new, fresh icons for the challenges. DO NOT use old icons that you've had lying around in a folder or that you've been using somewhere, we want to see new stuff! Failure to follow the rules will result in disqualification of your icon.

Sign up. You have until the date stated in the sign up post to sign up for the first round. The first challenge will be posted the following day. Please sign up here. You must participate in every challenge until you are voted out of competition or you will be disqualified. You will receive a bi-week if you pimp this Comm on your LJ and/or other Comms. To receive and use your Bi-week go here. You must follow the rules of each given challenge as well as the regular community rules. Entries must remain anonymous until voting is complete and winners posted. You must add the phrase "...where did I put my epoxy?" in the subject line of your sign-up post to prove that you have read these rules.
Voting for LIMS competition is a little different than voting in regular challenges.
[a] When voting on LIMS you will vote for your least favorite icon(s). It is requested that you add an explanation, or critique of the icon, for your vote(s) (for each icon voted for) so that the icon makers can have some feedback (given to icon maker upon request and anonymously). THESE COMMENTS SHOULD BE RESPECTFUL AND HELPFUL. ATTACKS/FLAMES WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. [b] All members may vote, not just those participating in the LIMS. [c] 1-3 icon makers will be voted out each round (depending on number of participants). [d] The icon maker(s) with the most votes when voting closes will be voted out and cannot enter any further challenges for that LIMS round (but will still be permitted to vote).
The winner will receive a beautiful and sparkly banner-prize and bragging rights! ;)
*Please note that if you cannot handle rejection, criticism or are a poor loser you need not sign up for the LIMS.*
